About Our Club

We accept members that are 6 years and older. Children must be able to sit through small lectures or teaching times, that are run with age in mind.

Pony Club offers meetings twice a month at a local farm that has an indoor arena and meeting space. These meetings are known as our education nights. At these meetings members will come to learn different topics such as grooming, first aid, feeding, trailering, leading, learning about tack, and more. These sessions are divided into our junior and more beginner members and then into the senior or more experienced members. These sessions sometimes have horses at them and sometimes do not.

Through our education nights, members can choose to move up in levels all members start with a D level and can move up if they would like. Education nights cover topics that allow members to grow in their knowledge of horses but also allow members to gain knowledge to test and move up in the levels. This is completely optional, you are not required to test to be in Pony Club.

Pony Club also offers opportunities throughout the year to attend local clinics and at times organizes and brings in an instructor. These clinics are generally for members that own or lease their own horse and are able to bring their horse to wherever the clinic is being hosted. Pony Club is hoping to start offering clinics for members that do not own their own horses at a local farm that has school horses. These clinics are paid for by members but at a subsidized rate that pony club helps cover.

The Comox Valley pony club provides opportunities for members to attend island-wide quiz competitions, Christmas parties, Prince Phillip games, Tetrathalon, Our own fundraiser The pony club show, testing, and our annual 3 day camp at the fairgrounds and more. All of these events happen throughout the year.

Our pony club is a volunteer-run club which means that everyone is expected to take on a small role to help the club run smoothly. As mentioned we have a fundraising horse show once a year, this helps to keep the cost of Pony Club low and helps members to attend clinics or events at a reduced rate. The world of horses can be very costly so to be able to continue to offer this opportunity we need the support of parents and families. Pony club is a wonderful chance to meet other families and children that are horse crazy!
